What if star wars episode 2 was good

There is a lot of walking-and-talking and sitting in a circle. It is all terrible and I would suggest fast-forwarding several sections of the movie. On the other hand, the CGI continues to be great. The best is Kamino. That world is sci-fi heaven. I love the aliens. I love Jango Fett and Anakin is nowhere to be found. McGregor gets to leave behind that dead weight.

I also like the Blade-Runner-like lower levels of Coruscant although that bar should have been a lot seedier. It has too much of a sports bar feel. The coliseum is good and who doesn't love that outfit on Portman.

There is plenty of fun action in this movie but it needs a better writer to punch up the dialog. The director is once again George Lucas and he is also one of the writers as usual. The cast includes a handful names that defined the second era of Star Wars films, such as Portman, Christensen and McGregor. And of course all the known characters that I won't have to mention here by name.

I may be a bit biased here as sci-fi is definitely not my favorite genre and I also never have been a really great Star Wars fan, not even of the old films. But still, there are sequences here where it was easy for me to appreciate the film. But the problem is that these sequences are far from frequent enough for a film that runs for considerably over 2 hours. And this is why I would say that this film we have here stays a work that has clearly not fulfilled its potential in terms of the epicness it tries to deliver.

This refers to the script mostly, but also to the acting. But the script is the bigger problem. At some point, it feels they just try to include as many fantastic creatures as possible, give them a punchline here and there and hope this is enough so that people may overlook the deficits in storytelling and appreciate this film as something close to a comedy. But with this approach, it can never be a great work. The key is walking the fine line between fantasy and reality in Star Wars usually the struggles in terms of politics without getting too absurd or too uninteresting in any of these departments.

It is definitely a small line, but they have succeeded before, but here they do not. The quantity and quality of new characters, the non-human ones, is just far from where I wish it could have been. And with the human ones, there aren't that many interesting moments either, so sometimes it seems that they really went way past the franchise's peak. This only refers to acting and especially story though as the visual side is once again very impressive, which makes it a much much better viewing at a theater or on a gigantic screen in your home theater and this is certainly where you should see it.

This film was nominated for an Oscar in the special effects category, but lost to "Lord of the Rings", the other big Christopher Lee thing back then. And not only the effects are pretty great, also the costumes, sets and cinematography are as convincing as in all the other Star Wars films.

But the high level in there also shows how mediocre the script is and how important a good script is because if a film only or mostly delivers on the visual side, then it still cannot make up for major flaws in the story or just the lack of a convincing story altogether that has you on the edge of your seat.

And this is the feeling I had here. The film kept drifting slowly forward, but there was nothing really that wowed me or really impressed me to an extent where I would say I have to see this film again soon.

You can maybe call it an example of "style over substance". But it is not a failure or even a weak film. It is a solid work that just is underwhelming in the face of how much it cost. I do recommend the watch.

They chase the shape-shifter Zam Wessell Leeanna Walsman but she is killed by a poisoned dart before revealing the identity of who hired her. Obi-Wan discovers that the dart is from the planet Karmino and he heads to the remote planet. He finds an army of clones that has been under production for years for the Republic and that the bounty hunter Jango Fett Temuera Morrison was the matrix for the clones.

Meanwhile Anakin and Amidala fall in love with each other and he has nightmares with his mother. They travel to his planet Tattoine to see his mother and he discovers that she has been abducted by the evil Tusken Raiders. Anakin finds his mother dying and he kills all the Tusken tribe including the women.

Obi-Wan follows Jango Fett to the planet Geonosis where he finds who is behind the Separatist movement. He transmit his discoveries to Anakin since he cannot reach the Jedi Council. Who is the leader of the Separatist movement? Will Anakin receive Obi-Wan's message?

And the secret love between Anakin and Amidala will succeed? The action scenes are breathless, with many battles. Christopher Lee, the favorite villain of many films, is perfect as usual. My vote is eight. With events appearing to be being controlled by powerful external sources the Jedi's find themselves faced with a battle against a further force within the Trade Federation.

Now just imagine that Lucas had had a ham-fisted attempt at improving on them and actually did an OK job of it. Where the original Star Wars films got darker with the second instalment so to does Attack of the Clones. This dark element comes through in many ways. Mainly we have Anakin's shift towards the dark side as he begins to wander from the code of the Jedi by displaying anger, arrogance, impatience, lust. His descent into violence due to personal circumstances marks a dark moment in the film.

Also we have the Jedi beginning to lose power while the dark side continue to grow in influence. This makes the whole political sub-plot much better than Phantom Menace where it was dull and going nowhere but doing it very slowly. Here you can see the strands come together as Darth Sidious continues to influence events with the help of Darth Tyranus.

The romance subplot is a bit clunky and unconvincing but it doesn't slow it down as much as the trailers suggested it may.

Although the romance turns dark it makes for a nice contrast with Obi-Wan's more action story that occurs at the same time. The effects and battles are better here too but still suffer from Lucas loving his computer more than he does his characters; however as a summer blockbuster to pack multiplexes, the action works well.

Likewise other bits just step over the limit of what is acceptable as 'real' even in sci-fi. The performances and the characters have improved but generally they are still delivering lines as if they were quoting God. MacGregor is better because he is allowed to have a character instead of a totally dry cut-out like episode 1, but it is still a bit of an impression. Likewise Anakin is much better here could he have been worse? Lee and McDiarmid make very good puppet-masters, while Jackson clearly enjoys having more to do than in episode 1.

Yoda is good despite looking silly in his battle and given the part he deserves while Smits is really underused. Unfortunately Jar Jar Binks is back in this but at least the film shows some irony in the fact that it Binks that basically opens the door for the creation of the Empire and the fall of the Republic.

Personally the main improvement is the linkage are not only being made with the events of part 4 but that they are now heavily up on screen. Although it is all a bit basic and simplistic no time for complex thematic changes with all that CGI to create! It may feed off nostalgia as much as be a genuine moment, but it did work. Overall an improvement on Episode 1 but still a bit weak in many areas. It all depends now on the final episode as it always did to raise the level again and actually make a strong film that really lets the series go out on a bang rather than just making these new films one big bad idea.

For your behind that is. That's something you have to sit through and I don't even go into the romance part which is much criticized by many , but I will go into the CGI this time.

And one of the reasons I rated the movie higher, than I myself would've thought. This scene which I won't spoiler, if you haven't seen the movie yet is also the reason other people disliked the movie So maybe I'm a bit too euphoric, but I can't help it!

This might be the most intricately detailed and plotted of all the Star Wars films, but judging from all the negative reviewers on this board, I have to wonder if they paid attention long enough to understand what was going on.

Conspiracy and double crosses abound, with the introduction of Christopher Lee's character Count Dooku leading the separatist movement against the Republic. Then there's Chancellor Palpatine pulling strings that will eventually give rise to the supremacy of the Sith and the Dark Side of the Force. His flattery of young Anakin Skywalker is recognition of the Jedi's powerful potential, and is intended to hasten his corruption. For this viewer, that was the real story in "Attack of the Clones", and even though the relationship between Anakin Hayden Christensen and Amidala Natalie Portman was necessary for events of "A New Hope", that was secondary for the moment.

At about the time of events of "The Phantom Menace" ten years earlier, we come to learn that a clone army has been commissioned by former Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas for service to the Republic. Even more fascinating is the fact that all of the clones are descendant from a single original host, Jango Fett. Fett's death later in the Arena against the assembled Jedi Masters offers a convincing hint to the reason behind his son's chosen profession as a galaxy bounty hunter.

As for the romance between Anakin and Padme, and even though there were hints of it in 'Menace', it was still somewhat difficult reconciling their relationship given the age difference and their chosen paths in life. The film handled that progression in a manner that made sense, but not enough to explain Padme's acceptance of Anakin's berserk rampage on Tatooine in response to his mother's death. It was at that moment I feel, that Anakin became Darth Vader, even if the formality was left to "Revenge of the Sith".

On a lighter and more technical note, the CGI effects and action sequences of this episode were the most stunning yet, not even accounting for the battle scenes. The night time chase scene at the start of the film to catch the assassin Zam was incredibly detailed, looking more exceptional on my wide screen home TV than I even remembered it in the theater.

And say, did anyone else get the impression that the inhabitants of Kamino resembled Whitley Strieber's aliens? Anyway, I enjoyed this installment of the series even if the reviews are mixed and I find myself in a minority. I can only assume that the nay sayers operate somewhere beyond the Outer Rim, just outside the Rishi Maze.

OK, we all know that this is where Anakin Skywalker Hayden Christensen has become an adult and is starting to develop Darth-like qualities. What more to say? I still assert that Jar Jar Binks was the coolest character. I know, everyone's going to hate me for saying that, but I don't care why do people think that he sounds Jamaican? As for the rest of the characters, they're all doing what they can, but given the epic scale of the story, there's not much that they can do except say their lines.

Worth seeing, even if it is sort of a video game. Along the way though, he breaks a Jedi rule by falling in love. Meanwhile, Obi-Won searches for the bounty hunter, and finds a planet where cloning of troops is taking place, apparently for the Rebels. Also starring Samuel L. This along with the other two are never going to be as good for story, dialogue which is ridiculous or 'magic' as the originals, but the special effects are never disappointing. Sir Christopher Lee was number 31, Samuel L.

Worth watching! The Republic is in a state of bureaucratic and institutional chaos at this time and by feeling a degree of misunderstanding, the viewer better understands this. Alongside the fantastic political intrigue, Attack of the Clones also contains some of the best action the Saga has to offer. The finale of the movie is so exciting and for those viewers who are less gripped by the politics of the galaxy, it makes the wait completely worth it.

After having watched a fantastic man-vs-beast sequence, we witness more Jedi than we have ever seen before, alongside the mysterious clones, drop into Geonosis to do battle! These action scenes combine galaxy-spanning drama with personal conflict, heroism with tragedy, and, on a basic level, are incredibly satisfying to watch.

The movie also delivers a fantastic speeder chase and Jango Fett we finally see the origin of Boba! Attack of the Clones really does have a fantastic spread of diverse action sequences that are enough to keep anyone engaged.

Of course, the prequels are first and foremost about tragedy. And Attack of the Clones delivers this by the bucketful, giving us some emotional beats that ensure the movie has a lasting impact. Anakin is clearly dealing with growing panic and anxiety throughout the movie, and to see this manifest in the worst way possible is truly tragic to watch. A final point must be made about how this movie links in with the recently-completed, utterly fantastic Clone Wars TV show.

By fleshing out the stories of Padme, Anakin, and Obi-Wan, as well as introducing personable clones, the series has done a fantastic job at enhancing the themes and overall tragedy of Attack of the Clones.

One cannot help but watch the movie and be reminded of the upcoming adventures of Anakin and Rex or wonder how the introduction of Ahsoka will change things…. You will find an engaging tale of political mystery, galaxy-spanning drama, love, and, above all, tragedy. A tale that has been enhanced by the fantastic story-telling in The Clone Wars. The first one wasn't to good, but the next? It was even worse. The film itself was great. There's a lot of romance, which was really annoying.

The worst was in a battle of clone troopers and droids. Someone's head gets sliced off by a lightsaber, but you see no blood or gore.

But this movie is better than the first movie which was very boring at a lot of times! The whole theme of the movie is defeating good v.

There is one disturbing scene when Anakin kills some no-madic people out of his anger. Anakin admits his feeling to Padme, some kissing brief , and some longing looks.

Teen, 16 years old Written by spudsandbeans42 April 9, Overall - Mild content Violence: Mild - There is a brief sequence where one of the main characters bloodlessly kills a number of human-like creatures this is very brief and mostly off-screen. Another main character also becomes wounded after receiving a scratch from a large tiger-like creature and another character is bloodlessly decapitated. A head-but is administered by one of the main characters to another character and there are various battle scenes one of which includes a main character's hand being cut of by a 'lightsaber' where creatures are killed bloodlessly.

A character is shot and killed by a dart we hear the noise but to do not see the dart. None of these scenes have a major impact and are only mildly intense. Horror: Mild - A character witnesses the death of his mother she is not killed but is dying from becoming too weary after being captured but despite being the most emotionally intense thing in the film this is still brief and discreet.

The characters are menaced by and, in the case of one character, hurt by animal-like creatures in a colosseum. Characters are taken by surprise in a tunnel full of creatures armed with 'laser-beam guns'.
